Brittani is a first generation college student.  While in college Brittani served as an ambassador for the university, held leadership roles in the Amazing Tones of Joy Gospel Choir and pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.  Brittani has over 8 years of higher education experience in the areas of building pre-college programs, recruitment, retention programing and employer relations.  She believes she would not be where she is today if it weren’t for the encouragement of her mother and mentors.  Her life mission is to pay it forward to the next generation.

I serve as a college adviser because I desire to give all students the necessary knowledge, tools, and encouragement needed to access post-secondary education. As a first generation college graduate, I want to help alleviate the negative stigmas and misunderstandings around access to higher education and first generation college students. I am excited to be a resource and aid to all my students throughout the 2019-2020 school year. My overall goal is to be the person I wish I had during my own college application process.

Being a college adviser means being a champion for students who want to further their lives after high school graduation through postsecondary education. I didn’t have the opportunity to work with a college adviser on my journey, so having the chance to play that role for someone else and potentially change their life seems like it will be the utmost fulfilling reward. The power our young people have surpasses anything they could ever imagine, and I can’t wait to immerse myself in a job where I can make them realize their true potential.
